Deacons

• While the deacons have no special ecclesiastical powers, the

• office of deacon is honored by the Church in a sense that no

• other office is. The deacons have a nearness to the Pastor

• that suggests doing whatever may be done to encourage

• and help with the work. An established relationship of mutual

• respect and helpfulness between deacons and Pastor can do

• much toward guaranteeing the progress of their labor in the

• Lord.

• Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses

• well. For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good

• degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
